Special Skills

The World of Torr employs a few Special Skills which are not part of the normal game. These skills are learned and increased by talking with an appropriate trainer and then using your players handbook to increase your skills further, much like the way tradeskills are learned. These skills are used in special circumstances (hence the name) and are described in detail below.

Ritual Magic

This skill is used when performing magic rituals of any kind. Ritual Magic allows the casting of powerful and often world-shaking magic spells. Performing ritual magic involves using a ritual magic robe on the ground to create a ritual circle, then using a ritual book for the effect you desire on yourself or whoever you wish to be the target of the rituals effects as long as they are standing near the circle. Every Ritual has a difficulty modifier (usually a negative number) which will be added against your skill bonus. When performing rituals however, other players who are proficient in Ritual magic can become a part of the ritual and will add half of their skill bonus to the skill bonus of the ritual leader. The more powerful ritual magic spells are incredibly difficult to cast and usually takes several players with high skills working in concert to succeed at them.

Siegecraft

This skill represent a players ability to engineer and operate a Siege engine for effectively  (Catapult, Ballista, Battering Ram) Siegecraft is used primarily for the construction of these engines but it does also provide a slight additional bonus to the damage and/or accuracy when operating one.

Leadership

Leadership is a mix of command ability and military organization. Whenever you are in command of an army and you are in combat, your leadership skill will be checked whenever you take a casualty to your force. Successful rolls will keep your army from breaking up and retreating and great successes can offer morale bonuses to your forces. The difficulty of the roll is increased with the amount of soldiers under your control. Large armies become unwieldy to the inexperienced leader.

Faith

This measures your devotion to whatever gods you pray to. Similar to what Clerics do. This skill is used when praying at temples and shrines. It can offer bonuses for long periods of time, divine gifts or even quests if you achieve high successes. Faith skill is also used upon your death. If successful, you may be miraculously revived. On great success you may receive divine intervention in the form of summoned help or large ability bonuses for a short period of time.
