Any
form of static quest or activity would become stale after so many runs through it.
To keep the questing always interesting and fun we focus primarily on the concept of "PvP interactive quests".
These are similar to normal quests but they usually pit opposing
players against each other instead of a an NPC or "Boss". The plot of these quests can be anything from a friendly game of arm-wrestling
to two rogues stealing the same pricey item from a castle to a group of
heroic players defending a village against
another evil players invading army. Many of these adversarial PvP quests are
between the "Good" and "Evil" groups but are also often just friendly
competition. The winners usually earn XP but the XP they gain is mostly
"taken" from the losers. You can't "power game" these quests with friends to
level up.
All the players involved stand to lose XP
when participating in these quests. The amount of XP the "winner" of these
quests gains is generally the same amount that the "losers" will lose if
they fail. Generally no XP is actually generated or destroyed by the system
for these quests, it is simply changing hands from one player to another.
This rule is also true for Bounty Hunting and PvP killing. This is the only
way to make a PvP XP system that cannot be exploited players working
together to powerlevel for free.
There are a few exceptions to this rule where a small
percentage of XP is actually generated by the system and given to the
winner. This is only true for the "competitive" PvP quests like when 2
players steal the same item from a castle. Because these quests involve more
of an NPC element and are nearly as difficult to accomplish even without
another player competing against you , the winner will usually gain more XP
than the loser will lose. For example the loser might lose 1000xp while the
winner gains 1250xp.
PvP quests are always voluntary and never pressed upon a
player with the exception of Good or Evil players killing you out in the
countryside, the XP you normally lose upon death is generally handed to the
one who killed in those circumstances.
If you are caught in the middle of a PvP quest (i.e. you are
in the small village that 2 other players are going to fight over) you will
be warned to leave and sometimes even forced removed from the area if you
are not interested in participating. This is to insure you don't interfere
while not risking your own XP.
