A vast majority of the houses, farms and shops in the World
of Torr are designed to be purchased and maintained by other players. When
walking through a city or out in the countryside, you may notice small
banners next to homes and farms that read like addresses. These banners act
like "mailboxes" for own able property. If clicked on, these mailboxes will
either display "Vacant" or display the name of the player who currently owns
it. Vacant properties can be be bought at the local Administration building
which is usually near the castle and marked on your Mini-Map. Owning
property usually requires a low up front purchasing price but a payment
equal to approximately 1% of its total value every hour (real time). You can
expect to pay the entire purchase price of your property in maintenance
approximately every 4-5 days of real time. Consider that when you purchase
one.
Homes typically provide a place to sleep instead of paying
at a tavern as well as storage space for items you have acquired in your
adventures. There also "Guild" storage chests which can be accessed by other
players on your "Friends List" (not implemented yet). Homes can be
customized as far as lighting, sound and furniture at no additional charge.
This can be done by using the "Property Control" object which is usually
near the door.
Farms are similar to homes except Farms have the ability to
produce food and livestock. Outside the building, farms usually have a field
or a fenced in yard. The field can be planted and crops grown whilee the
yards can be used to raise cows and chickens for milk meat and eggs
(Foodstuffs).
Shops have less cozy furnishings but they contain tradeskill
objects like forges anvils and work benches within them as well as a place
to hire your own merchant. Combined with large nearby storage objects, Shops
become very valuable for the would be tradeskill player.
