Epic Levels

Epic levels are still on the drawing boards but in general this is what is envisioned.

Having such powerful characters roaming around normal cities is not practical. Players who can take on an entire city single handedly or simply walk around annihilate any dungeon or mid level player them come across unbalances the game. Normal dungeons and encounters cannot be balanced so as to allow normal 5-15 levels characters deal with them but somehow be any kind of threat to a level 21+ character. Players of Epic levels need to be placed in a separate part of the world so they can be with players and encounters that are at least somewhat close to their level of abilities to remain playable. To make this fun and in the spirit of role-playing, this is what is being worked on:

Characters who reach level 20 will have to perform some sort of quest and/or attain a number of actual Player followers to advance any further. When meeting whatever requirements we end up laying out, that player will "Ascend" into a Demigod status. When a character is "Deified" he will permanently be moved to another set of "Planar" areas where they can further advance their characters into Epic Levels in a much more fantastic and "God-Like" environment where the encounters and quests are more to scale with what Demigods would do. It will be almost like starting over at level 1 in a much different environment. However, you will still be able to interact with the normal players in the normal plane and even visit that realm for short periods of time.

Epic Characters are essentially low-level gods, as such, normal players will be able to actually pray to them from the normal planes at shrines or temples. The epic characters can ignore their prayers or actually appear and grant quests/favors. Player granted quests in this way will mostly likely be risking the Epic characters own XP if the follower fails but they will both gain XP if they succeed. Epic Characters generally won't be able to directly intervene with their followers quests  (i.e. fight along side them) but there will probably be a many ways a Demigod can influence other players and NPCs in the normal plane to help
